Tryon Riding and Hunt Club completed its 2016 charitable giving program with recent donations to three local organizations.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit and the Foothills Humane Society each received a $3,000 donation to support their operations. Funds for those gifts were raised from entries, raffle tickets and individual donations at TR&HC’s 83rd Annual Any & All Dog Show held in October.
The Blue Ridge Hunter Jumper Association received a $4,500 TR&HC donation from TRHC’s Community Fund. BRHJA is the main organizer of fun and competitive horse shows held locally at Harmon Field and FENCE, as well as at other regional venues. BRHJA hosts primarily B and C level shows for riders of all ages.
Throughout 2016 TR&HC contributed $36,951 to community and equestrian organizations in the Foothills area, including a total of $11,000 to eight students through the TR&HC educational scholarship program.
From 2014 through 2016, the organization has made donations of more than $76,000.
