Richard Hollis Kelley, Jr., 77, of Tryon, N.C. passed away Nov. 10, 2016. He was the son of the late Richard Hollis Kelley, Sr. and Beatrice Waegelin Kelley. He was an entrepreneur and business owner. He was president of Format Printing, president and owner of Windfield Business Papers, president and owner of Riverside Solutions, president and owner of Upward & Onward, and co-founder of Kelleigh Corporation. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.

He was a Free Mason, member of Tryon Presbyterian Church, former volunteer fireman with Millington, N.J. Fire Department, served as the president of Owls Head Harbor Association, and served as president of the Hunting Wood Home Owners Association in Tryon, N.C.

He had a complete love of learning and enjoyed mastering new skills and hobbies. Among many things, he was a passionate musician. He was a licensed boat captain, commercial multi-engine pilot, avid wood craftsman. He loved boating on Lake Champlain and antique cars.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Slagle Kelley; a son, Brian Kelley (Anna); a sister, Chris Johnson (Dave); and two nephews Peter Peterson (Gina) and Ellis Peterson (Yvonne).

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Petty Funeral Home in Landrum.
