Darryl Barnette Taylor

Darryl Barnette Taylor, 83, of E. Flat Rock, N.C. passed away Sunday afternoon, Nov. 20, 2016 at the Elizabeth House.
Born in Polk County, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Bertha Jackson Barnette. Mrs. Taylor retired from E. Flat Rock Knitting Mill after 40 years of service. She was the chaplain for the Polk County V.F.W. Post #10349 in Mill Spring for 10 years. Mrs. Taylor enjoyed oil painting, crocheting, flowers and the great outdoors. Her passion was taking care of her family. Mrs. Taylor was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Zirconia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Bud, Curtis and Tommy; five sisters, Mamie Bailey, Martha Fowler, Frances Pritchard, Mary Price and Faye Barnette.
Surviving is her husband of 64 years, Robert L. Taylor; one son, Steve Taylor of E. Flat Rock, N.C.; one daughter, Tita Hyde of Arden, N.C.; five grandchildren, Serina Bell, Natasha Slater, Kimberly Hyde, Robert Hyde and Tyler Hyde; four great-grandchildren, Ethan Hyde, Mason Childers, Bailey Womack and Alyssa Womack; one brother, Clarence Barnette of Florida; one sister, Carolyn Barnette Mabry of Hendersonville, N.C.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel with Rev. Allan Martin officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service Wednesday from 1-1:45 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, N.C.
