Landrum’s football squad had upset one number one team, but the Cardinals weren’t able to pull that off again, as Saluda’s Tigers ended Landrum’s season, 49-0, in the first round of state AA playoffs at Saluda, Friday, Nov. 18. Landrum’s defense held the Tigers scoreless in the first and third quarters. However, the Tigers exploded for 35 points in the second quarter, and added 14 in the fourth. This season’s Cardinal highlights included wins over cross-state rival Polk County, West Oak (56-9), St. Joseph’s Catholic and Blacksburg (a 17-14 win).
