Discounted equine gelding, microchips and vaccinations offered at FENCE

Foothills Equine Rescue Assistance (FERA), a branch of the Foothills Humane Society, is presenting its first-ever discount gelding (aka castration) clinic on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at FENCE.

The gelding service is being offered for a discounted price to owners of intact horses and donkeys as a cost-effective way to prevent unplanned pregnancies, which often result in unwanted horses being shipped to slaughterhouses in Canada or Mexico. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required for gelding.

Also being offered are Micro-chipping for identification (lifetime FEI approved); Coggins Tests to check for Equine Infectious Anemia; and vaccinations at discounted prices. Please pre-register and prepay, so you can be pre-scheduled and prevent much wait time. All services are being provided courtesy of Dr. Ann Stewart, Dr. Aaron Langely, and Dr. Tori Moore of Appalachian Equine in Weaverville, N.C.
