LANDRUM-South Carolina voters went to polling places in Landrum and Gowensville precincts to elect new officials in multiple races ranging from county sheriff to U.S. Senate and the President of the United States.

 

In the Landrum United Methodist precinct, 1,548 of the 2,841 registered voters showed up to polls Tuesday. The Landrum High School precinct saw 1,331 of its 2,365 registered voters show up to polls.

 

These are unofficial results. The state voted for Donald Trump as president 1,142,659 votes over Hillary Clinton’s 847,473 votes. Spartanburg County voted for Trump over Hillary Clinton 76,101 votes to 39,888 votes.

 

The Landrum High School precinct gave Trump 1,054 votes and Clinton 221 votes. Trump received 1,150 votes compared to Clinton’s 329 votes in the Landrum United Methodist precinct.

 

Tim Scott (R) was elected to the U.S. Senate with 1,227,851 votes over opponent Thomas Dixon (D) with 698,300 votes. Scott was the high vote getter in Spartanburg County with 79,306 votes compared to Dixon’s 32,084 votes.

 

Scott received 1,170 votes and Dixon received 268 votes from the Landrum United Methodist precinct. The Landrum High School precinct cast 1,041 votes for Scott and 198 votes for Dixon.

 

Trey Gowdy (R) won the U.S. House of Representatives race 197,235 votes against Chris Fedalei’s (D) 91,106 votes and Michael Chandler’s 5,041 votes. Gowdy received 75,659 votes in Spartanburg County as opposed to Fedalei’s 33,159 votes and Chandler’s 1,814 votes.

 

Gowdy received 1,187 votes from the Landrum United Methodist precinct while Fedalei received 275 votes and Chandler received 28 votes. At the Landrum High School precinct, Gowdy received 1,073 votes while Fedalei received 192 votes and Chandler received 29 votes.

 

Josiah Magnuson (R) won in State House District 38 with 13,936 votes. He was running unopposed. Magnuson received 1,101 votes in the Landrum High School precinct and 1,177 votes in the Landrum United Methodist precinct.

 

Tom Corbin won in South Carolina Senate District 5 with 10,026 votes and Rusty Clevenger won Spartanburg County Coroner with 98,759 votes. Both were running unopposed. He received 1,116 votes in the Landrum High School precinct and 1,222 votes in the Landrum United Methodist precinct.

 

Chuck Wright (R) was the high vote getter in the Spartanburg County Sheriff race with 93,156 votes over Russell Lynch (I) and his 15,584 votes. Wright received 1,300 votes and Lynch received 118 votes in the Landrum United Methodist precinct. In the Landrum High School precinct, 1,162 votes were cast for Wright while Lynch received 117 votes.

 

Hope Blackley won Spartanburg County Clerk of Court with 98,399 votes and Bryan Johnson won the race for the Spartanburg County Soil and Conservation District Commission seat with 77,101 votes. Both candidates were running unopposed.

 

Spartanburg County voted yes to the alcohol referendum to allow the Department of Revenue the authorization to issue temporary permits in the county for a maximum 24 hours for beer and wine sales at permitted off-premises locations 54,529 votes to 30,686 votes.

 

Greenville County chose Trump as president with 59.36 percent and 125,595 votes against Clinton’s 34.66 percent and 73,338 votes. Scott was chosen as U.S. senator with 139,362 votes against Dixon.

 

Gowdy was high vote getter in Greenville County against Fedalei with 66.46 percent and 121,576 votes against Fedalei’s 31.68 percent and 57,947 votes. Chandler received 1.77 percent and 3,231 votes.

 

In the Gowensville precinct, 1,195 of the 1,937 registered voters (61.69 percent) showed up to the polls Tuesday.

 

The Gowensville precinct gave Trump 961 votes and Clinton 181 votes. The precinct gave Scott 977 votes for U.S. senator compared to Dixon’s 140 votes. Gowdy received 979 votes from the precinct opposed to Fedalei’s 159 votes and Chandler’s 21 votes in the U.S. House of Representatives District 4 race.

 

Corbin was chosen in Greenville County in the State Senate District 5 race with 29,296 votes. The Gowensville precinct supplied 1,028 of those votes.
