Tryon Arts & Crafts School and TACS Executive Director Cathy Fischer hosted a Day of the Dead mask-making party Friday evening taught by local artist Sam Lovelace. Attendees learned about “Dia de los Muertos,” the day after Halloween, in which the Hispanic culture celebrates death and passing on to the next life. Lovelace taught the class about how the masks are integral to the holiday and provided them with art supplies to create their own masks. Wine and Mexican snacks were also served during the class.
