Special Veterans Day commemoration planned Nov. 1

The Polk County Historical Association (PCHA) will meet at the Polk County Museum at 60 Walker Street in Columbus on Nov. 1, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. The Museum is in the back entrance (the basement) of the Feagan Building.
In honor of Veterans Day in November, the Historical Association of Polk County will present a special program. Please join us at the fourth annual PCHA veteran’s panel dedicated to military individuals from Polk County who served their country in time of war.
The program will feature live interviews with several vets from different parts of Polk County, including: Jay Goree from Columbus (WWII, Battle of Iwo Jima); Saluda residents, William Russell (Korea) and Leon Morgan (Vietnam War); Nathan Shields from Tryon (Vietnam, Cold War, Iraq and Afghanistan); Mill Spring resident, Larry Andrews (Desert Storm); Tryon resident, Adam Palmer (Iraq). In addition, several other residents are expected to appear and share their military experiences.
War artifacts and pictures will be on display for public viewing as well. The program is free and open to the public.
