The last time Landrum (now 2-3) had a chance to even its 2016 football record, the Cardinals buried visiting West-Oak, 56-9.

That game, two weeks ago, is history, as this Friday evening, it all begins again, as the Cardinals travel to Chesnee for their first conference game of the season, against a tough Eagles squad.

Landrum will need to be ready, and looks to be.

“I like the way our kids have played,” Cardinals’ head coach Jason Farmer stated. “They’ve played hard.”

The Eagles (3-3), coming off a 47-12 loss to a very good Clinton team last week, “are very well coached,” Farmer pointed out. “They have a very good quarterback (#10, Isaiah Ellis).”

Meanwhile, the Cardinals have a very good quarterback in freshman Turner Ussery (#3).

“It’s our first region game,” Farmer remarked. “We can’t go over there and not play well.” In a game where either team will take advantage of crucial mistakes by the other, “We’ve got to play great to win,” Farmer stated.

This evening’s weather might feature the closest to “football weather” for the Cardinals yet in 2016. Opening kickoff is set for 7:30.
