A new year of performances begins for Foothills Music Club

The Foothills Music Club, Inc. held its first meeting of the 2016-2017 year, Sept. 8, at the home of Carole Bartol. The musical program was entitled “By Women Only, Music by Female Composers.”Among the composers represented were Libby Larsen, a prolific American composer of over 500 works; Cécile Chaminade, a French composer of the late 19th and early 20th century; Judith Lang Zaimont, a Tennessee born piano prodigy, educator and performer; and two pieces by local Tryon composer, Rita E. Landrum. The performers are, seated, Elaine Jenkins, Jeanette Shackelford, Fran Creasy, Carole Bartol, and standing, Karen Molnar, Jeanette Comer, Brenda Quilling, Mimi Child Traxler, composer Rita Landrum and Elizabeth Gardner.
