The deadline to apply for 25 percent cost-share grants through USDA’s Rural Energy for America program is October 31.

The grant can help farmers’ small rural businesses pay for LED lighting, insulation, solar PV renewable energy systems, and more.

Residential projects are not eligible.

Free grant-writing assistance is available through the Energy Cost-share Assistance Program, a western North Carolina nonprofit.
