“Open to Interpretation” exhibition features contemporary fine artist William Dill

London District Studios will host “Open to Interpretation – one artist, many perspectives,” an art exhibition for contemporary fine artist William Dill. The opening reception will take place in Asheville, N.C. on Oct. 14, 2016, from 5–10 p.m. at London District Studios located at 8 London Rd. “Open to Interpretation” will run through November 14.

“Open to Interpretation – one artist, many perspectives” presents loose abstract works Dill hopes the viewer will perceive through their own eyes and interpret to find meanings that resonate within their own experiences.

“There are so many ways to express my individuality and to solicit reactions from the viewers. Although I have provided ‘titles,’ suspend that image and let your imagination guide you. All that matters is for the beholder to see and hear what my image conveys to her/him. Consider my art as therapy, as it is for me. Be aware that your interpretations are not my reality, only yours. Please enjoy the ride though my fantasies and realties as I reinvent myself each time I approach the canvas.”

Native Mississippian William Dill spent his formative years in the South and Southwest primarily in Texas and Mississippi. Dill and his husband/collaborator relocated to Tryon in 2015, where they have become integrated into the community and reveled in the quantity and quality of regional and international artists, writers and performers who live and visit there.

Dill’s varied education includes fine arts and study and work in esoteric philosophy. Like other notable figures in the tech pantheon, Dill dropped out of college to forge a successful career in IT, achieving a senior leadership position in one of America’s leading financial institutions. After 40+ years as IT professional, Dill retired in 2012.

Retirement has afforded Dill the opportunity to revisit his passion for fine arts. Dill enjoys experimenting with varied media in his works and is enjoying the journey of  this phase of his life, being an emerging artist.

Many of Dill’s works are in private collections in California, Texas, Virginia, Mississippi, and North Carolina. Some of these include works donated as auction items for non-profits Dill holds near and dear including Human Rights Campaign.
