Polk County pole vaulters Troy Lieberman and Jake Justice each cracked the top three Saturday at the inaugural Charlotte Street Vault competition in downtown Charlotte.
Competing outdoors in temperatures well past 90 degrees, Lieberman and Justice finished second and third, respectively, in the event’s high school division.
Lieberman, a rising senior, posted a top vault of 13-0 while Justice, a rising sophomore, cleared 12 feet.
The event drew a number of top pole vaulters from around the region, including High Point’s Scott Houston, who finished eighth in the U.S. Olympic Trials, and Mark Hollis, who placed fourth at the Trials with a vault of 18-0.
