Polk County Board of Commissioner June 20 recap

During the Polk County Board of Commissioner meeting on Monday, June 20, commissioners:
• approved the 2016-2017 fiscal year budget
• heard from Shelly Foreman with Smoky Mountain LME about mental health, substance abuse and developmental disability services
• approved new insurance maps and contracts with fire departments in Edneyville, Dana and Blue Ridge to cover far reaching areas of Polk County
• heard a property revaluation update from tax administrator Melissa Bowlin and Robert Haskins, with Wampler Eanes Appraisal Group
• scheduled a public hearing in July regarding the creation of a ordinance establishing the Polk County Government and Public Facilities Zoning District, which would create a district for the county’s new law enforcement center off Hwy. 108 near Milliken
• heard from county manager Marche Pittman who gave an update on the new law enforcement center
