Horace DeFoy Johnson

Horace DeFoy Johnson, 83, of Melvin Hill passed away June 12, 2016 at the Hospice House in Landrum, S.C. He was born, April 20, 1933 in Polk County, and the son of the late John Clinton and Luetta Malone Johnson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Johnson Setzer and two brothers, Curtis Leon Johnson and James Henry Johnson.
DeFoy was an active member of Melvin Hill Church of the Brethren. He retired from Spartan Mills of Spartanburg, S.C. DeFoy always looked forward to sharing his blood with Red Cross in order to help others.
Survivors include his wife, Anna of Melvin Hill; a son, Max David Johnson of Spartanburg, S.C.; a sister, Jeanette Johnson Grimes and husband Joe of Canton, Texas; a brother, Claude Johnson and wife, Kathy, of Forest City, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Ruth Diebert Johnson of East Petersburg, Pa.; two grandchildren and five great-grand-children.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Melvin Hill Church of the Brethren conducted by Rev. Craig Scruggs and Rev. Earl Byers.
