William Robert Andersen, 89, of Tryon, N.C., died Tuesday, May 17, 2016 in Hospice House, Landrum, S.C.
Born in Toledo, Ohio, he was the son of the late Robert and Frida Andersen. William served in the U.S. Army during the World War II era. He was a member of the Rotary Club for 35 years. He volunteered with Foothills Chamber of Commerce and Habitat for Humanity. William was an avid stamp collector, and he enjoyed judging barbeque. He was a member of Tryon Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Gail Kirkham (Tom) of Lindenhurst, Ill., and a son, Russell Andersen of Tryon, N.C. He was predeceased by his wife, Audrey in 2008, and a son, Robert in 1985.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 27, 2016 in Tryon Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dent Davis officiating.
