Former Landrum quarterback Mark Cann was named the starting quarterback at Marshall University at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.
Cann, a redshirt freshman, beat out a sophomore and two juniors for the job.
He threw for 5,549 yards and 41 touchdowns in his career at Landrum.
Marshall will open its season at home against Illinois State on Saturday.
