“Adoption Party” for very special horses Derbyshire setting for Art of the Horse party
Published 10:00 pm Thursday, March 3, 2016
Our Carolina Foothills is organizing a kickoff event for the Art of the Horse Project on Sunday, March 20 from 2-5 p.m. at Derbyshire in Columbus. The gathering will be an opportunity for guests to meet the artists and sponsors of these horses that have made this project possible.
We coined the phrase Adoption Party because, essentially, the sponsors have “adopted” the many talented artists that span from Greenville, S.C. to Charlotte, N.C. with many from our own community. The sponsors’ generous donations allowed the horses to be purchased and make their way from white shells to painted, one of a kind art pieces.
We also saw this as an opportunity to partner with Foothills Humane Society, an organization in our community whose primary focus is adoptions of local area animals.
Limited tickets are currently being sold through Foothills Humane Society and at Stone Soup Restaurant. Tickets include complimentary food and beverages and entertainment. All proceeds of the event will go directly to Foothills Humane Society.
Staff from Our Carolina Foothills, a nonprofit which promotes Landrum, Tryon, Columbus and Saluda through marketing campaigns and events, will be on hand to discuss this community arts project and many of the others that are in works throughout 2016.
Derbyshire staff will provide tours of their unique gated lakeside and equestrian community to those who would like to see the beauty behind the gates. Foothills Humane Society will also be in attendance to answer questions about their programs along with one or two four-legged friends hoping to find a new home.
