Jearl Dean McDowell, 77, of Columbus passed away on Dec. 19, 2015. He was the son of the late Fred Hampton and Mary Crocker McDowell and husband of Sandra Hudgins McDowell.

He was a masonry contractor. He absolutely loved and adored his family and especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra McDowell; a son, Jeff McDowell and wife Leslie; three daughters, Lisa Wofford and husband Jamie; Holly Gugenheim and husband Charles; and Nicky Messer and husband Phillip; two brothers, James and Paul McDowell; a sister, Barbara Foster; grandchildren, Skyler and James Wofford, Keane Gugenheim, Makayla Franklin, Emmie and Jaren McDowell; a great grandchild, Jayse Franklin.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby and Charles McDowell, and a sister, Shirley Howell.

The family will receive friends from 12 – 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015 at Landrum United Methodist Church. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. at the church conducted by Rev. Kevin Dalton.
