Polk County Commissioners are seeking the public’s input on Monday regarding rezoning for a new district at the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) called the Tryon Village.
The rezoning request is for the next phase of development at the equestrian center, located off Pea Ridge Road.
The public hearing is scheduled at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16 prior to the county’s regular meeting, which will begin at 7 p.m. Another public hearing is also scheduled prior to the regular meeting to hear comments regarding amendments to the White Oak Development agreement.
Construction is scheduled to begin on the Tryon Village in 2016 and be complete in 2017.
The village will be constructed on 29 acres of TIEC’s approximate 1,400 acres and is scheduled to begin after the N.C. Department of Transportation completes road improvements, including a roundabout.
The village has plans for a 175-room hotel, planned to be operated by Salamander, 90 condominiums, a sports complex with outdoor pools, indoor workout facilities and treatment rooms.
The mixed retail use in the village will include specialty shops and a restaurant as well as a visitor’s center, a parking garage, a large green space for the public’s use and bike trails.
This phase of TIEC’s development is proposed to be complete in the next 24-36 months, according to TIEC representatives.
Polk County’s public hearing on the new district will be held on the second floor meeting room of the Womack building in Columbus.
