Municipal election polls open Tuesday

Election polls will be open Tuesday in Polk County’s three municipalities as well as for the City of Landrum and District One School Board.
Polk County polling places are for voters in the city limits of Columbus, Saluda and Tryon.
Polls will be open in Polk County from 6:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m.
Polling places include Columbus Town Hall for Columbus voters, the Saluda Fire Department for Saluda voters and the Harmon Field cabin for Tryon voters. Only registered voters who live within the city limits of the towns are allowed to cast votes. Early voting ended on Saturday, Oct. 31.
In Columbus, there are three open council seats. Incumbents Richard Hall and Margaret Metcalf are running to retain their seats against Emily Gage and Mark Phillips. The seat of Scott Hamby is also open, with Hamby filing but withdrawing. Hamby’s name will be on the ballot but has withdrawn from the race.
In Saluda there two open commissioner seats. Incumbent commissioner Leon Morgan is running, along with newcomer Stanley Walker. Candidate Karen Bultman’s name will be on the ballot but she has officially withdrawn from the race. Current commissioner Lynn Cass is now running as a write-in candidate.
The Town of Tryon has races for both commissioner and mayor. The race of four commissioner candidates for two open seats includes incumbents George Baker and Roy Miller, with Doug Arbogast and Crys Armbrust challenging.
Incumbent Tryon Mayor Jim Wright is being challenged by former mayor Alan Peoples this year.
