Richard “Dick” Dummer

Richard “Dick” Dummer, 71, of Tryon, died Friday, Oct. 23, 2015 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born Feb. 8, 1944 in Tillamook, Ore., he was the son of the late William and Ruth Dummer.  He retired in 2007 from United Space Alliance in Cape Canaveral, Fla. where he worked the past 30 years as a project manager on the space shuttle computer system. He moved here upon retirement.  He was a member of the Columbus Congregation of Jehovah’s Witmesses.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Kathy, and their son, William, of Palm Bay, Fla. He is also survived by his brothers Leroy, Melvin, Loren, Gary, and Duane, his sisters Marilee and Cheryl, and dozens of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Dick was predeceased by a daughter, Kristina Hall of Orlando, Fla.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015 at 4 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Skyuka Road, Columbus. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the worldwide work of Jehovah’s Witnesses at the Kingdom Hall.
