The monthly Polk County Historical Association program on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 2:30 p.m. at the museum on Walker St. in Columbus will tell the story of Bryant Womack, a local Polk County hero. Womack was an Army medic during the Korean War who lost his own life while saving his comrades. Recently, the Army medical facility at Fort Bragg, N.C. named their facility the Womack Army Medical Center in honor of Bryant Womack. Ted Owens attended that ceremony at Fort Bragg and will be presenting the program. Womack’s sister, Rachele Womack Elliot, will be present to add additional information about her brother. The program is open to all.
