To all those who love this area

To the editor:

We have two more weeks to notify Duke Energy of our opposition to the high voltage transmission lines that will destroy the beauty and local economy that we all love. The deadline for the receipt of project questionnaires is August 31.

I know there are those who feel that Duke will not pay attention and that this is a pointless exercise; however Duke representatives have said numerous times, and it has been confirmed by many sources within Duke Energy, that Duke will count and weigh the data in the forms.

We can’t afford to take the chance and not fill them out. PLEASE fill the questionnaires out and send them in. DO keep copies if you mail them in. If you reply online make sure to keep a copy. Walker, Wallace & Emerson Realty has forms available. Please stop by and fill one out. Take some and have your friends and neighbors fill out questionnaires, as well. You may mail your questionnaire in or leave it with Walker, Walker & Emerson and we will be happy to make you a copy and send the original to Duke.

We have not all fought together as a community for years to preserve this “special place” just for Duke Energy to come in and destroy our community. We have a growing agri-eco economy based on tourism, recreation, horses, farming, wineries and retirement living and all the businesses related to these industries, and all of these industries and related businesses owe their existence to the scenic beauty and natural resources that surround us.

Duke’s proposal to put a HVTL right thru the middle of our area will have a devastating effect. The most valuable work of art is worth nothing once you cut it in two.

Remember: 4321! 4 towns, 3 counties, 2 states . . . ONE COMMUNITY!

Please stop by Walker, Wallace & Emerson Realty and fill out a Questionnaire. Yours could be the one that makes the difference. Your voice counts!
