Candler Bond

Candler Reaves Bond 96, of Columbus, N.C. passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015 at the Brian Center, Hendersonville, N.C.
Born in Madison County, Ga., he was the son of the late Joseph Lee and Mary Elizabeth Andrew Bond. He was a veteran of WWII and Korean War serving in the U.S. Navy and later for the Army Security Agency. He was first married to Ruby Trexler Bond who died in 1994 then to Eleanor Ecklund Bond who died in 2009. Mr. Bond was a refrigeration and air conditioning engineer. Before coming to Polk County, N.C., he was a resident of Ballantree in Asheville, N.C. from 1995 to 2009. Mr. Bond was a member of Lutheran Church of the Nativity in Arden, N.C. and the Cannon Memorial Masonic Lodge #626. He was preceded in death by a son, William Bond who died in 2012.
Surviving is one son, James C. Bond (Wanda) of Columbus, N.C.; six grandchildren, Jason C. Bond, Kristi B. Luther, Damon L. Bond, Amanda B. Patterson, Beth Deane and Michael Lee. Also surviving are several great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., July 9, 2015 at the Lutheran Church of the Nativity, Arden, N.C. with Rev. Dr. Mark E. Fitzsimmons officiating.
