Rotary Club of Tryon is proud to honor and recognize the service and sacrifice of the law enforcement officers and deputies who serve our community. Officer Chris Ruff of the Columbus Police Department was awarded a Rotary Presidential Citation for his quick and decisive action in saving a Columbus man’s life by getting the man, who was having a heart attack, to St. Luke’s Hospital in just six minutes from the time he received the radio call.  According to the medical staff, who worked to revive the man, had it not been for the quick thinking and action of Ruff, the man would not have lived. Officer Ruff is an example of the professionalism and dedication of all of the police officers in Polk County.
