Irvin Ray Gillie, 78, of Columbus, N.C. passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015 in the Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills, Landrum, S.C.

Born in Rockingham County, N.C., he was the son of the late Fred and Ruth Carroll Gillie. He was a graduate of Tryon High School, attended Appalachian State University and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Mr. Gillie owned and operated Accounts Recovery Corp. for approximately 40 years before retiring to Columbus, N.C. in 1989.  He was a past member of Links of Tryon Country Club and a member of Mill Spring First Baptist Church.

Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Linda Thompson Gillie; one daughter, Sharon Green of Columbus, N.C.; two sons, Chris Gillie (Kristy) of Landrum, S.C. and Craig Gillie (Kathryn) of Tryon, N.C.; one brother, Jerry Gillie (Sandra) of Columbus, N.C. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Derrick Lynch, William Green, Colin, Christian and Carson Gillie.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2015 in Mill Spring First Baptist Church, Mill Spring, N.C. with Rev. David Bame officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service Thursday evening from 5-5:45 p.m. in the church.
