The internationally acclaimed vocal jazz quartet, New York Voices, will bring their Grammy-award winning style to the Tryon Fine Arts Center, 34 Melrose Avenue, Tryon N.C. for a not-to-be-missed event on Friday, April 10 at 8 p.m.

2015 marks New York Voices 27th year, and the group shows no signs of slowing down. They are known for their inspired arrangements and unparalleled vocal blends. Their chameleon-like musicianship allows them to move seamlessly from setting to setting, be it orchestral/big band to an intimate quartet.

With deep interests rooted in jazz, Brazilian, R & B, classical and pop, their music mixes traditional sensibilities with more than a dash of the unexpected. In addition to their own CDs, NYV has made many guest appearances on recordings and live performances that have earned them critical acclaim and demand in a variety of settings.

In this year’s Expanded Critics’ Poll published March 13, Jazz Times selected New York Voices as the Best Vocal Group for their 2014 accomplishments.

“We are thrilled to have a group of this caliber at TFAC – their performances are vocally and visually exciting and sublime,” says TFAC’s Executive Director Marianne Carruth. To watch them perform one of their standards, “Sing Sing Sing,” visit www.tryonarts.org and click on the NYV picture.
