Dever Little, Jr.

Mr. Dever Little, Jr., 89, of Landrum passed away March 15, 2015. Dever was born May 28,1925 in Gaffney, S.C. He was the son of the late Dever Little, Sr. and Maude Stroup Little. He was the husband of Betty Littlefield Little. Dever was a graduate of Gaffney High School and earned a B.S. degree in business from The Citadel in 1949. He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a master’s degree in accounting.
Dever was an active member of the Landrum United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the Landrum Masonic Lodge, the Shriners and the Landrum Lions Club. He was retired from the Landrum Fire Department after 20 years of service. He was also an Eagle Scout. He served in public office for 16 years. During his tenure he served as the mayor of Landrum for 12 years and as a city councilman for four years. He retired as the plant accountant from Bigelow Sanford after 30 years in 1987. He was also a veteran of the Air Force.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Lynne Fisher and husband Clay of Toccoa, Ga. and Rosanne Schenck and husband Mike of Brentwood, Tenn.; a sister-in-law, Fronneau Little of Gaffney and five grandchildren, Mallorie Godwin and husband John, Clancie Scott and husband Dusty, Chandler Fisher, and Katherine and Rebecca Schenck; and a great grandchild, Willow Scott.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Louise “Luci” Little and a brother, John Q. Little.
The family received friends from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Landrum United Methodist Church. Funeral services follow at 11 a.m. at the church conducted by Rev. Carl Harris and Rev. Kevin Dalton. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens with Masonic Rites.
