Between work, school, and the rest of your life, it may be difficult to find time for the library. Polk County Public Library provides online services and convenient hours that fit any schedule, making it easier than ever to get the books, movies, and music you want.

Visit polklibrary.org to request books, movies, and music directly through the online catalog.  You can even request things from partner libraries like Isothermal Community College and Rutherford County Public Library. The library will set aside the first available copy and let you know when it is ready.

The library is excited to offer a new notification service: text messages! Text messages will be sent to alert customers when requested items arrive at the library, as well as when items are due and overdue. To sign up for text message notifications, use your phone to text your full name and library card number to ask@polklibrary.org. Please allow up to four days for changes to take effect. Email notifications are also available.

PCPL’s evening hours make it easy to drop by after work or school. The Columbus and Saluda Libraries are open until at least 6 p.m. on weeknights, with the Columbus Library staying open until 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. Both libraries are open on Saturdays.

In addition to traditional library materials, PCPL offers over 20,000 eBooks and downloadable audiobooks for tablets, Kindles, and other devices. Says library director Rishara Finsel, “eBooks are great for busy people. They are also really popular with our older customers, because any book can be large print.” Through the library website, access North Carolina Digital Library for the hottest new bestsellers and perennial favorites. Homegrown eBooks specializes in North Carolina authors, hiking and nature guides, regional history, food, and culture.
