Tryon Fine Arts Center is very pleased to announce the election of its newest board member, Mary Ann Twitty, for a three-year term. Twitty, a Tryon native, has a long history of volunteer work in the community including Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Chamber of Commerce, and other local organizations.

Twitty worked at Polk County Transportation Authority, and also for Pavillon. For the past 10 years she has worked for Cooper-Riis and currently serves as transportation coordinator. As a single working mother, and from years of working with exceptional clients, Twitty brings a unique perspective to TFAC that is welcomed by the board.

When approached, Twitty responded with enthusiasm. She is committed to helping TFAC fulfill its mission “to serve as a creative driving force for performances, exhibits, arts education, and community partnerships in the Foothills.” Jeff Byrd, fellow board member says of Twitty, “Mary Ann has been a steady supporter of the Tryon Fine Arts Center for years and we are so pleased that she will now join us on the board. She is a bright light wherever she goes.”  She is already active on the Amphitheater Committee and has volunteered for multiple TFAC events in recent years.

Twitty has three grown children: Alfred, who works at The University of California at Berkeley; Cynthia, who lives and works in Spartanburg; and Keshawn, who lives in Tryon and works as a chef at Tryon Estates.

Tryon Fine Arts Center is a nonprofit organization that operates and programs a 315-seat performance venue and 150-seat amphitheater for music, opera, theatre, dance, and lectures on Melrose Ave. in Tryon. In addition to presenting programming for a wide variety of audiences, TFAC also makes the arts accessible to local students through education and outreach programs.
