Marlene Patton Bowyer

Marlene Patton Bowyer, 73, of Tryon, N.C. passed away Friday, Jan. 16, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Columbus, N.C.

She was the daughter of the late Burgess and Irene Patton of Lynn, N.C.

Born in Catawba County, N.C. on July 19, 1941, she grew up in Lynn and was a graduate of Tryon High School, Class of 1959.  While at Tryon High School, she was a cheerleader, Beta Club member and the school reporter at WTYN radio station.

Marlene was predeceased by her twin sister, Charlene P. Foy, sister, Barbara P. Eaton and brother, Karl Patton.

She is survived by one sister, Becky Kennedy (Butch) and one brother, George Patton (Gay) both of Columbus, N.C.; one son, Barry Bowyer (Gayle) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Shelly Cook of Broomfield, Colo. and Melody Holt (Greg) of Bozeman, Mont. Also surviving are five grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015 in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, N.C. with Dr. Darryl E. Maxwell officiating.
