On December 1, Lavender Sage opened its doors to the shoppers of Landrum. Owner Cynthia (Lavender) Harris said that she hopes that passersby and shoppers in the main stretch of Landrum will not be deterred by the railroad tracks that separate her store from the bustling streets of Landrum.
“People need to cross over and visit some of the wonderful businesses on our side of the tracks,” said Harris.
The shop may look small from the outside and is still awaiting a sign, but the inside of the store contains a boutique that is filled with wonderful items that Harris says captures the theme of the three R’s: repurpose, reuse and refine.
The definition of the verb “repurpose” is to change a particular thing so that it can be utilized for a different purpose.
“I just love decorating. I was born and raised on a farm and enjoy repurposing old things into creative new items,” said Harris.
Harris has two other employees who help run her store, including Lynn Ford and Kim Miller. The three have a plan to increase their handmade theme to include everything from wooden art products to a collection of concrete and garden art ideas. Knitted products, handmade scarf pins and purses are also on display.
Lavender Sage also offers a selection of tasty jams, jellies and salsas from Atkins Farm and Harris has a plan to continue to expand her specialty food inventory. Harris said that she wants to provide her customers with a vast selection of wonderful gift ideas which include handmade specialties, furniture, vintage finds and home decor.
Lavender Sage is located at the four-corners of Landrum at 101 N. Howard Ave, Landrum, S.C. For more information, call 864-457-5451.
