Signs alerting the public where free Wi-Fi is located in downtown Tryon from Pangaea sparked a discussion amongst a business owner and town council last week. Barry Flood, owner of Tryon Theatre, said he was told the signs were approved, but town commissioner George Baker said the signs were never approved. Flood said the signs are against the town’s sign ordinance and said the signs either need to come down or the town needs to throw out its ordinance. Baker said the signs should have gone for approval to the town’s planning board first and as far as he is concerned the signs were never approved. He said the town is working on it and wants to make sure it is done the right way. (Photo by Leah Justice)
