During the month of October, firefighters with Saluda Fire & Rescue will be trading in their regular uniform shirts and going pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Wearing a pink t-shirt is a simple gesture, but it is one that instantly makes someone think about breast cancer awareness, and that is the department’s goal.
Saluda Fire & Rescue is very active in raising awareness and hosting fundraisers throughout the year for other charities such as Childhood Cancer Awareness, Muscular Dystrophy Association and supporting local families needing assistance. Saluda Fire & Rescue will be collecting donations through the month of October for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Donations may be dropped of at the fire station, located at 199 Walnut Street in Saluda.
