Each year hundreds of people converge on Harmon field to make a difference in the world. The walkers represent schools, businesses, churches and organizations in saying that Hunger is something that can be defeated.

The first Sunday of November, music and fellowship fill the air as walkers take steps to bring awareness as well as funding to the problem of Hunger. Of all funds raised, 25 percent are designated to organizations here in the foothills. Thermal Belt Outreach and Operation Hope in Landrum both received funds from the 2013 walk. The 2014 Foothills CROP Walk Committee will be on hand during the World Communion Celebration at Harmon field Sunday, Oct. 5 to share information and resource materials with organizations, groups and individuals interested in helping with this fun and much needed project.  Contact Lance Smith at 828-859-9414 for information about this year’s walk scheduled for Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. at Harmon Field.
