A group of 14 members of Pea Ridge Baptist Church will make the long trip to Nome, Alaska in March 2015. They will be braving the cold, arctic weather to spread the word and love of Jesus while serving at the finish line of the world famous Iditarod dog sled race. They will have the opportunity to reach the Native community of Nome as well as into the musher subculture of Alaska. The team will distribute Bible-in-a-bucket door to door, participate in prison ministry, prayer walk, work with a women’s shelter, host a kid’s club, and possibly get the chance to mush a dog themselves.
The mission team will fly overnight on March 12 and arrive in Nome the morning of March 13, at which time they will immediately begin their service and outreach to the region. This trip will cost approximately $2,000 per person, which is mostly airfare expense. The team will also be responsible for appropriate clothing, which can vary in cost.
There will be several team and individual fundraisers over the next few months, including an upcoming Bow/Skeet shoot on August 30.
