The members and officers of St. Luke CME church on Markham Road in Tryon, will honor pastor Rev. Barbara Phillips with an appreciation service Sunday, July 6 at 3 p.m. at the church.
On July 18 Rev. Phillips will be retiring after 19 years of service to St. Luke, area churches and the community.
The speaker for the appreciation will be Rev. Thomas E. Massey, Jr. of Hebron Baptist Church with music provided by the choirs of St. Luke and Hebron Baptist Church.
Following the appreciation service is a reception. This will be a time for those who would like to extend their well wishes to Rev. Phillips.
We do ask that those attending the reception please bring a covered dish and  large drink to share with others.
