Jean E. Prideaux

Jean Elizabeth Post Prideaux, 95, of Tryon Estates, Columbus died Wednesday, June 4, 2014 in Willowbrooke Court.
Born in Bethlehem, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Henry Irving and Maude MacDowell Post.
She was the widow of Douglas Henry Prideaux who died in 2008.
She was a graduate of Liberty High School, Bethlehem, Pa. and Cedar Crest College, Allentown, Pa. Class of l940.
She received a Masters Degree in Education from William Paterson University, Wayne, N.J.
She was a school teacher, assistant principle and accomplished organist.
Jean was a member of the Tryon Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are: two sons, Douglas Prideaux and wife Peggy of Eden Prairie, Minn. and Dr. Peter Prideaux and wife Phyllis of New Bern, N.C. and one daughter, Penny Meisel and husband Dr. John Meisel of Bellevue, Wash.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years and an older sister and younger brother.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 12, 2014 in the auditorium of Tryon Estates with Chaplain Tim Willis officiating.
Burial will be in Saluda City Cemetery, Saluda, N.C. and will be private.
