District One Schools announces McCraw as new principal at Landrum High School

During a special board meeting on Thursday night, April 3, the District One Schools Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Jason McCraw as the Principal of Landrum High School.

McCraw will officially begin his duties on July 1 with the district.

Currently an assistant principal at the Dorman Freshman Campus in Spartanburg District Six, McCraw has ties to the area.

He and his wife, Jennifer, and their two children William, 4, and Weston, 2, live in Boiling Springs, S.C., where they attend Cudd Memorial Baptist Church.

McCraw is a native of Blacksburg, S.C., where he attended local schools and graduated from Presbyterian College with a degree in Biology.

He received his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Converse College.

McCraw has classroom experience as a science teacher at Chesnee High School, where he was also the head boys’ basketball coach. He started his teaching career at Blacksburg High School, teaching science and coaching basketball.

McCraw said he had been impressed many times over the years as he visited Landrum High School as a player and a coach.

He also said he was always impressed by the high expectations in all areas and the strong community focus and support for the school that were evident.

“My family and I are excited about this opportunity to lead such a great school and to become part of District One Schools,” said McCraw. “I look forward to beginning the work of keeping Landrum High School one of the best high schools in the state and helping the students, teachers and community continue a strong focus on providing a wonderful education for our students.”

Dr. Ron Garner, District One Superintendent, said of McCraw, “We are pleased to have Jason McCraw to join the District One team. He is a dedicated family man and strong leader. We look forward to working with him as he begins the transition to Landrum High School.”
