Albert L. Henson

Albert Lee Henson, 89, of Landrum passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 in the Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills.

Born Nov. 23, 1924, he was the son of the late Augustus and Eliza Henson.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. Albert was a graduate of Landrum High School and Spartanburg Technical College. He retired from Spartanburg Steel after 25 years of service. Mr. Henson was a member of Midway Baptist Church.

Surviving is his wife of 66 years, Sarah Clyde Henson; two sons, Darrell Henson of Tryon and Richard Henson of Landrum, S.C.; two daughters, Joan Howard (Lloyd) of Campobello, S.C., and Bunny Williams (Harold) of Green Creek. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Andy and Jay Howard and Nikki Williams. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua B. Howard.

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 in Midway Baptist Church with Rev. Peter McDonald and William Mills officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service.
