Joyce Hansborough, was a Christian, a person who believed in God as our creator, our souls and in the sacrifice of the Son of God, Jesus Christ (trinity). Additionally, in the necessity for repentance for our sins in order to be prepared (saved) for a Spiritual body for when her soul would enter the gates of Heaven for an eternal life thereafter. Her soul departed her earthly body on Dec. 28, 2013.
She was born and raised in a small railroad town in North Carolina and in her senior year of high school, just after her graduation, was invited to re-locate to Washington, D.C. where she was then employed by the War Department in 1945.
Joyce most recently had lived at White Oak of Tryon in skilled nursing care where she was cared for by a loving and caring personal assistant and friend (Mary), some very caring nurses and CNAs and additionally was assisted and watched over by a wonderful staff at Foothills Hospice of the Carolinas and especially by a dedicated and caring Foothills Hospice volunteer and friend (Sandra).
Joyce was predeceased by her loving husband, Hilbert, an infant niece, Ariel and is survived by her sister Janice, three sons, John of Green Creek, Jeremiah (Jerry) and Andrew (Andy) and a combination of 22  grandchildren, great grandchildren and step-grandchildren as well as many nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces.
She was particularly proud of her temporary career with the federal government, of being a homemaker for her husband and family and being instrumental in caring for her family and helping to raise her children with moral values and instilling responsibility in her childrens’ character. Additionally, that she and her husband had planned ahead financially for her wellbeing in her latter years of life.
Joyce had resided in a local, independent living apartment, when she moved back to North Carolina and later at two different assisted living facilities (one in SC) and the aforementioned Skilled Nursing facility where she lived out her remaining years and recently celebrated her 90th birthday just prior to her soul departing for Heaven.
