George Gould

George McCully Laughlin Gould, 85, of 9 Jackson Grove South, Landrum, SC, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013 at his home.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Erl Clinton Barker and Katharine Laughlin Gould.
He attended St. Paul’s School, Concord, NH.  George was a Veteran of the U. S. Navy having served from 1946 to 1948 and later graduated from Yale University, Class of l952.
Mr. Gould spent most of his career in Pittsburgh before retiring to Landrum in l994. Locally he served as a board member and finance committee member of Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Surviving are: his wife of 61 years, Rachael Kilbourne Gould of the home; two sons, Andrew M.L. Gould of Landrum and George M. L. Gould Jr. of Concord, Mass.; four daughters, Karen Boyle (Tim) of Tequesta, Fla.; Isabel Hoversten (Peter) of Denver, Colo.; Megan Benedict (Roger) of Silverton, Ore. and Leila Oliver (Charles) of Landrum and a brother, John D. B. Gould of Vero Beach, Fla.
Also surviving are 12 grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.
