On Sunday, Oct. 27 at approximately 5:15 p.m., the Columbus Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle on US Hwy. 74 that was involved in a hit and run with injuries on I-26 near Saluda.

The vehicle failed to stop and fled onto Fox Mountain Rd., Smith Waldrop Rd. and then NC Hwy. 9 South before finally abandoning the vehicle on Will Green Rd.

The operator of the vehicle, Jason Lee Brady, 36, of Tryon fled on foot and has outstanding warrants for his arrest on charges including felony fleeing to elude arrest, kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer, assault on a law enforcement assistance animal, failure to heed blue light and siren, reckless driving, speeding 85 mph in a 40 mph zone, possession of stolen property, driving while license revoked, driving while impaired, injury to property, resisting arrest and other charges.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol investigated the initial collision.

The Columbus Police Department was assisted in the pursuit by the NC Highway Patrol and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
