Marjorie “Bos” Vining

Marjorie “Bos” Boswell Vining, 87, of Glengarnock Road, Tryon, died Saturday, July 6, 2013 at White Oak Nursing Home.

Born in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Henry Tubman Boswell and Margaret Eleanor (Hamilton) Boswell. She was a member of the Tryon Congregational Church.

“Bos”, as she was known to everyone, graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and attended the University of Maryland where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She had lived in Tryon for 62 years. She loved crafts and family. She considered being a mother and grandmother a full-time job. For several years she delivered “Gatorade” to the Tryon Football team practices and could be seen at Tryon football, basketball, baseball and tennis matches. She retired as business manager of The Tryon Daily Bulletin and in retirement, attended many meetings of the Tryon Town Council.

Surviving are four sons; Seth Alfred Vining (Cathy) of Gainesville Ga.; James “Jim” Boswell Vining (Patrice) of Rock Hill, S.C.; John Hamilton Vining (Pam) of Tryon; and David Ralston Vining (Beth) of Chattanooga, Tenn. Eight grandchildren, Adam Fincher Vining (Jessamy) of Gainesville, Ga.; Dr. Marjorie Ann Vining Butler (Brian) of Marietta, Ga.; Benjamin (Ben) James Vining (Selen) of Huntersville, N.C.; Dr. William (Will) Collins Vining (Megan) of Schenectady, N.Y.; Dr. Seth Patrick Vining (Sarah) of Charleston, S.C.; Kathleen “Kate” Taylor Vining, Rachel Ann Vining and Samuel “Sam” Morris Vining of Tryon;  and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother,  Henry “Hank” Tubman Boswell (Louise) of Hagerstown, Md.
