The Saluda Small Town Main Street promotions team will kick off the Top of the Grade concerts series this summer to carry out the vision of Saluda becoming a four-season destination for both local residents and visitors.
“Music is one of the four themes upon which the promotional team is building a sustainable year-round marketing plan. The area abounds with musical talents, as evidenced by all the performing artists who entertain at the Purple Onion, the Saluda Grade Café, the Party Place & Event Center, the Saluda Wine Cellar and other organized venues. Music is a natural asset to tap into, and a common language among all genres and ages, and a perfect way to connect Saluda residents and guests,” says a spokesperson for the team.
The Top of the Grade Concerts will perform the second and fourth Fridays, June through October:
• June 28
• July 12 and 26
• Aug. 9 and 23
• Sept. 13 and 27
• Oct. 11 and 25
All performances will be held on center stage from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at McCreery Park in the area that was previously the skateboard park. The city’s Coon Dog Day stage will be placed there after Coon Dog Day. From center stage, attendees can continue their musical evening at the Purple Onion, the Saluda Wine Cellar and the Saluda Grade Café and any other music offerings on that evening.
Attendees should bring their own chairs or blankets. Food, soft drinks and coolers are allowed. A food provider will be scheduled for each concert with Historic Thompson’s Store & Ward’s Grill providing deli sandwiches and cold soft drinks for the June 28 concert.
