Alfred Michaud

Mr. Michaud, a native of Charlotte, the son of Stanley Joseph Michaud and Caroline Frazier Michaud, was born Nov. 14, 1921. Soon thereafter, the family moved to Springdale, Conn.,where his love of history, as well as photography and writing, began at Stamford High School. He attended Piedmont College and while there, he met another student, Emily Berryman. They were married in 1943 and spent 65 happy years together.

Following his honorable discharge from the U.S. navy at the end of WWII, he earned his degree in chemistry at the University of Illinois. Then began a long a successful career in marketing and sales with companies in New York, Chicago, the West Coast, Washington, and Philadelphia.&bsp; Extensive travel, both foreign and domestic, was the highlight of his career. In addition, he was sought as a speaker and lecturer on history and culture of the places he visited. The Michauds first retired to Tryon before moving to Park Springs Retirement Community in 2006.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Emily, include a daughter Jeanne Michaud of Novelty, Ohio; a son, Michael A. Michaud and wife Asa of Marietta, Ga. and five grandchildren.

Persons desiring to honor Al Michaud may in lieu of flowers, contribute to the Park Springs Foundation (scholarship program for employees) 500 Springhouse Circle, Stone Mountain, Ga. 30087. Private services will be at a later date.
