Frances Pauline Jackson Pittman

Born in Whitney, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Bill W. and Annie Wilson Jackson. She was a graduate of Appalachian State University. Mrs. Pittman was a retired school teacher from Mill Spring Elementary School, where she taught for many years, and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Pittman was an active member of Sandy Plains ARP Church, where she sang in the choir and a member of Woodmen of the World. Mrs. Pittman was the widow of Harold Dean Pittman, who died in 1992.Surviving are two sisters, Joan Foster of Lake Lure and Kathleen Maney of Spindale. Four brothers, Billy Glenn Jackson of Marion, N.C., Clarence Walden Jackson of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Charles Jackson of Oregon, and John Landrum Jackson of Mill Spring. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 28, 2008 at 2 p.m. in Sandy Plains ARP Church in Sandy Plains Community, with Rev. Greg Hamer officiating.
