Russell L. Herzfeld

A native of Weyawega, Wisc., he was the son of the late Erich and Ella Timm Herzfeld and husband of Shirley Krogstad Herzfeld for 59 years.
He was vice president/general manager of three sausage manufacturing plants, Weisel&squo;s and Usinger&squo;s of Milwaukee, Wisc., and Kowalski&squo;s of Hamtramck, Mich. His interest in contests led to many prizes including a Mini Cooper and coining the phrase &dquo;A diamond is forever.&dquo;
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daugher, Gayle Broskowski (Michael) of Winston-Salem, N.C., and two sons, Paul Herzfeld (Patricia) of Union Grove, Wisc., and Pete Herzfeld (Patsy Newell) of Washington, D.C.; a brother, Rellis Herzfeld of Milwaukee, Wisc.; a sister, Violet Seiwert of Rochester, Ind.; and eight grandchildren, Trevor, Erin, Tyler, Jacob, Lauren, Charlotte, Henry and Holly.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Jacksons Grove UMC, conducted by Rev. Mike Bowers. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the services at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
