Derek Austin Toney, 29, of Columbus died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012.
A native of Polk County, he was the son of Donald and Carolyn Walker Toney of Green Creek. He was a past employee of Ivey Electric for five years, Clarkson Industrial for five years and currently employed by Renfrow Brothers, Spartanburg, S.C. for the past three months. He loved fishing and hunting.
Surviving in addition to his mother and father is his wife, Devan Gordon Toney of the home; a daughter, Austin Renea Toney; a son, Richard Clay Toney; a brother, Devin Toney of Columbus; four great-aunts and great-uncles, Agnes and Willard Jolley and Wilma and Jack Jolley, all of Columbus. Also surviving are numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17 in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, with Rev. Gary Curtis officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service Friday from noon to 1:45 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
